about DYNAMIC SIMULATION
Dynamic Simulation was founded by Dr. Shawn Segeren, an emergency physician who discovered the power of simulation to turn uncertainty into clarity and confidence. What began during the COVID-19 pandemic has grown into a trusted training partner for hospitals and clinicians across Ontario.
Today, Dynamic Simulation delivers high-impact, hands-on training that strengthens team dynamics, sharpens clinical performance, and prepares clinicians to lead under pressure. Built on clinical excellence and humility, the brand is known for practical, interprofessional sessions that transform how teams communicate and perform when it matters most
The starting point
Shawn had done an incredible job building Dynamic Simulation from the ground up. What began as a single physician leading small simulation sessions quickly evolved into a respected and sought-after service, trusted by hospitals and clinicians across Ontario. Teams consistently described the sessions as structured, practical, and transformational—experiences that changed how they communicated and performed under pressure.
But while the training itself carried a clear sense of excellence, the external brand and website told a different story. The visual identity felt grassroots, more like a passionate side project than a professional, province-wide service. Messaging didn’t always capture the depth of the impact, and the website lacked clarity for different audiences. Hospitals understood the value once they experienced it, but many individual clinicians didn’t realize they could book training directly. Shawn had built something powerful, but the outward presentation wasn’t keeping pace with the reputation he and his team were earning in the field.
the goal
The next chapter for Dynamic Simulation was about building an identity that matched the quality of the work. Shawn was ready for more—a brand experience that felt as polished, professional, and high-performing as the sessions themselves. The goal was to create a cohesive system of visuals, messaging, and digital presence that not only reflected the credibility of Dynamic Simulation, but also gave hospitals and clinicians a clear and compelling reason to engage.
This rebrand was about positioning Shawn and his growing team for the future. It needed to establish Dynamic Simulation as the go-to partner for serious, performance-focused training—something distinctly different from the checkbox CME sessions that many internal programs deliver. The new identity had to speak to two audiences at once: hospitals looking for a trusted partner to elevate their teams, and individual clinicians seeking hands-on education that sharpens their skills and builds confidence. More than a new logo or website, the goal was to capture what people already felt after a session—that they had leveled up—and translate that into a brand that could scale with Shawn’s vision for growth.
the branding
For the branding process, I collaborated closely with Shawn and designer Jess Vorheis of Burnworks Design. Shawn had a very clear vision of what he wanted his brand to embody—something bold and impactful, but in an understated and professional way. My role was to translate that vision into direction, ensuring it aligned with his goals and the broader strategy, while Jess brought her design expertise to the project.
We began with a mood board to confirm alignment on tone and style, which gave Shawn confidence in the direction before design work began. From there, Jess developed the full visual brand, delivering a clean, modern system that captured exactly what Shawn was looking for.
Since Shawn did like parts of his original logo, I wanted to pay homage to his original ECG waveform. Jess and I explored how to evolve this idea into something more refined and versatile. The final mark cleverly integrates both a “D” and an “S” into a monogram form, with a subtle ECG-inspired line woven in. The result is a logo that feels modern, relevant, and uniquely his—an identity that communicates confidence, clarity, and professionalism while staying true to his roots.
the website
The website redesign was a cornerstone of this project. Our goal was to create a seamless, intuitive experience that made it easy for both hospital leaders and individual clinicians to understand Dynamic Simulation’s offerings and find the right fit for their needs. With 18 pages to design and organize, the site had to be carefully structured around user experience, clarity, and navigation.
With initial design support from Jess, I developed a professional, on-brand website that reflected the credibility and impact of the sessions, while avoiding the clutter and generic look common in healthcare websites. To streamline the client journey, Shawn and I partnered to build an automated intake and workflow process that simplified booking and follow-up, reducing the administrative burden on his team.
To ensure the site told a consistent, compelling story, I also facilitated a custom photo and video shoot during a local simulation. This provided authentic visuals that aligned with the brand’s tone—professional, real, and high-performing.
The result is a website Shawn can be genuinely proud to share with potential clients: a polished digital presence that finally matches the level of excellence he delivers in every simulation.
